Greenville, S.C. – Damaging wind gusts and isolated thunderstorms could rattle parts of the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia Tuesday afternoon, as a multi-day stretch of wet weather kicks off across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather is in effect today from noon through 8 p.m. across parts of South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue off and on, with a few storms potentially turning strong, especially across the Piedmont.
Areas including Greenville, Anderson, Asheville, and Toccoa may see gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. Motorists should be alert for sudden downpours and water ponding on roads during the afternoon commute. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items and avoid being outdoors during storms.
