South Bend, IN – A weekend shooting that left two men injured in South Bend has now become a homicide investigation after one of the victims died from his injuries Monday evening.
According to the South Bend Police Department, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 300 block of O’Brien Street around 11:20 p.m. Saturday. While investigating the scene, officers were notified that two male victims had arrived at Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds.
Police said 21-year-old Jamarion Watson suffered critical injuries and was admitted in grave condition. An 18-year-old male was also treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Watson succumbed to his injuries Monday evening. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward.

Officials added that tips leading to an arrest or resolution of a homicide case could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,500.
Police have not released any information about suspects or a possible motive as the investigation remains active.
