South Bend, IN – Two motorcyclists were charged after a South Bend police officer was injured while directing traffic near a football game.
On Friday, officers were controlling traffic on Eddy Street following a game at School Field when they saw a group of motorcyclists riding northbound. According to the South Bend Police Department, the motorcyclists scattered in different directions as officers tried to stop them. One motorcyclist allegedly drove toward an officer, who had to push the rider away to avoid injury.
During the chaos, 28-year-old Gabrielle Yeazel allegedly ran over the officer’s foot while attempting to flee. Officers detained her, but another male suspect fled after ignoring police commands. He later jumped onto another motorcycle and escaped.
Officers later arrested 28-year-old Sean Miller, who allegedly threatened officers and fled during the incident. Both Yeazel and Miller now face multiple charges, including resisting law enforcement. The injured officer was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
