Cheyenne, WY – A snow squall warning is in effect for southwestern Goshen, northeastern Laramie, and southeastern Platte counties. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the warning early Thursday, advising against travel due to life-threatening conditions.

The dangerous squall, spotted 9 miles northeast of Whitaker and moving south at 35 mph, caused sudden whiteouts. Intense bursts of snow, gusts up to 60 mph, and blowing snow have reduced visibility to less than a quarter mile.

According to the NWS, the warning will remain active until 3:30 a.m. MST. Travelers along I-25 and US-85 face dangerous road conditions as winds and snow create treacherous driving. The impacted region includes over 3,000 residents.

Officials urge drivers to delay travel until the warning expires. Those on the road should use extreme caution and prepare for rapidly changing conditions. Stay updated with weather alerts and ensure vehicles are stocked with emergency supplies.

Snow squalls are intense, short-lived bursts of snow accompanied by strong winds. They can make roadways hazardous in minutes.

The NWS recommends staying indoors until the squall passes. For updated information, visit their official website or social media.
