Green Bay, WI – Snow showers and dangerously cold wind chills are expected to create hazardous conditions across the region through Saturday morning. Residents are urged to drive cautiously, especially on untreated roads, as icy patches may develop.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, light snow will persist throughout Friday and taper off early Saturday. Accumulations of up to one inch are expected, mainly in northern counties like Vilas and Oneida. Wind chills could plummet to as low as 20 degrees below zero overnight, posing risks for frostbite with extended outdoor exposure.
Saturday will see clearer skies, but temperatures remain frigid with highs near 17°F and continued northwest winds. These conditions will keep wind chills between 5 and 15 degrees below zero through the weekend. Drivers on major routes, including I-43 and Highway 41, should anticipate slow travel due to icy conditions.
Looking ahead, Sunday brings some relief with mostly sunny skies and highs near 22°F. However, temperatures drop again Sunday night, with lows around 14°F. Monday and Tuesday will see slightly milder highs in the mid-20s before another potential cooldown midweek.
Residents are advised to limit outdoor activity, bundle up, and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets. Emergency officials recommend keeping blankets, water, and flashlights in vehicles for safety during potential delays.
Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for updates, and drive carefully to avoid accidents on slippery roads this weekend.
