Residents are urged to avoid extended outdoor exposure, dress in layers, and ensure pets are sheltered.

Saturday will remain cold, with a high near -5°F and partly sunny skies. Nighttime temperatures will drop to -15°F under mostly clear skies. On Sunday, the weather will improve slightly with highs near 3°F, but wind chills will still remain bitter.

Looking ahead, Monday brings a slight warm-up with highs near 4°F, but another drop to -8°F is expected Monday night. Tuesday will see a chance of snow and highs around 1°F.

Drivers should exercise caution as icy conditions persist, especially on rural roads near Highway 2. The extreme cold could also stress car batteries, so preparation is key. Residents are encouraged to check on neighbors and the elderly during this cold snap.
