Charleston, WV – Snow will persist across West Virginia from tonight through Thursday before a warming trend brings relief this weekend. Drivers should prepare for icy roads and changing conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston, snow is expected to begin late Tuesday night, with a 50% chance of accumulation after 2 a.m. Snowfall will intensify Wednesday, bringing 1 to 3 inches by midday. Additional snow showers Wednesday night could add up to 2 more inches.

By Thursday, lingering snow showers will taper off, with temperatures remaining cold. Highs will struggle to reach 25°F, and overnight lows will dip to 15°F. Roads may remain icy, especially in shaded areas and on bridges.

A significant change arrives Friday as skies clear and temperatures climb near 32°F. The warming trend will continue into the weekend, with highs reaching 41°F on Saturday and near 46°F on Sunday.

While snow-covered roads may pose travel hazards through midweek, conditions will improve heading into the weekend. Residents should drive cautiously, monitor forecasts, and prepare for a milder stretch of weather.
