Grand Rapids, MI – Michigan residents are in for a frigid night as temperatures drop to some of the lowest levels this month, with lake effect snow continuing through Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, overnight lows will range from 0°F to 15°F, with wind chills making it feel as cold as -15°F in some areas. Light snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected along the lakeshore, creating slick conditions on roads. Blowing and drifting snow may further reduce visibility, making travel hazardous.
Officials urge residents to dress warmly if spending extended time outdoors and to be mindful of frostbite risks. Exposure to these conditions for an hour or more can be dangerous. Drivers should use caution on potentially icy roads, especially during the morning commute.
Snow showers are expected to taper off by late Tuesday morning, but cold temperatures will persist. Residents should monitor local forecasts and prepare for continued winter conditions.
