STATE COLLEGE, PA – The National Weather Service in State College has issued multiple Winter Weather Advisories across northern and western Pennsylvania, as a widespread winter storm and developing lake-effect snow bands bring hazardous travel conditions through Thursday and early Friday.
- 🌨 Snowfall Totals:
- Northern Counties (Warren, McKean, Potter, Elk, Cameron): 6–12 inches possible through Friday morning.
- Cambria & Somerset: 2–4 inches, locally higher on the ridges west of Route 219.
- Clearfield County: 3–8 inches total, with heavier amounts north of I-80.
- Northern Centre, Clinton, Lycoming, Tioga, and Sullivan Counties: 2–5 inches, highest on elevated terrain.
- 💨 Winds: Gusts between 35 and 45 mph expected, causing blowing and drifting snow and occasional whiteout conditions, especially along ridgetops.
- 🕓 Timing: Ongoing snow will continue through today, with lake-effect snow bands redeveloping tonight and persisting into Thursday night.
- ⚠️ Impacts:
- Slick and snow-covered roads, particularly across higher elevations.
- Reduced visibility in blowing snow.
