Small Plane Emergency Landing Near Lowell, Indiana: Pilot Safe After Farm Field Incident

Lake County, IN – A small plane piloted by a Bainbridge resident made an emergency landing in a farm field near Lowell this afternoon, according to Lake County Sheriff Oscar Martinez Jr. 

The incident occurred around 2:15 PM near 241st and Whitcomb St. Following engine trouble after departure from Lansing Municipal Airport, the pilot attempted an emergency landing, during which the plane flipped over. Fortunately, no fire was reported, and the pilot, who managed to walk away from the crash, was taken to a hospital for evaluation. 

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified of the incident.
