SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Thunderstorms moving across eastern South Dakota could bring heavy rain and lightning to Sioux Falls overnight, before clearer skies return Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, storms are possible through early Monday morning, with a 40% chance of showers before 7 a.m. Winds will shift from the south to the northwest later in the day as skies turn mostly sunny. Highs Monday are expected to reach the upper 80s.

Tuesday and Wednesday bring a stretch of calm, sunny weather, with temperatures climbing into the mid-80s during the day and cooling into the mid-60s at night. Winds remain light, shifting east to southeast midweek.

Residents should remain alert for wet roads during the Monday morning commute, particularly in Minnehaha and Lincoln counties, where scattered showers may linger. Travelers are advised to allow extra time if storms redevelop before sunrise.
