Silver City Man Arrested on Kidnapping, Assault Charges After Domestic Altercation

Silver City, NM – A domestic dispute in Silver City led to the arrest of a Tyrone man on Friday. Authorities allege the man forcibly abducted his wife, resulting in multiple charges, including kidnapping and aggravated assault.

According to New Mexico State Police, officers observed two men walking near a parked truck on State Road 90. One man, identified as 61-year-old Patricio Aguilar, was injured and allegedly under the influence.

The investigation revealed Aguilar had confronted his wife at her workplace amid their separation. Police say he forced her off the road, crashed her vehicle, and forced her into his truck at gunpoint. At least two shots were fired inside the truck before Aguilar discarded the weapon.

The incident escalated when the woman fled near State Road 90. A motorist intervened before police arrived. The woman showed signs of struggle but was not seriously injured.

Aguilar faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, DWI, and aggravated battery. He is in custody at the Grant County Detention Center.
