Shreveport, La. – Shreveport remains under a heat advisory through 8 p.m. Saturday as dangerous triple-digit temperatures and high humidity push heat index values as high as 114 degrees. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity and stay hydrated to avoid heat-related illnesses.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, Saturday’s high will reach near 100 degrees with only a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms offering brief relief. Winds will stay light, shifting southerly in the afternoon before calming again overnight.

The intense heat continues into Sunday and Monday, with highs once again topping 100 degrees and overnight lows holding in the upper 70s, giving little chance for homes without air conditioning to cool down. Officials caution that prolonged exposure to these conditions may be especially dangerous for the elderly, young children, and those working outdoors.

Looking ahead, Shreveport could see a pattern shift by midweek as storm chances increase, though temperatures will still hover in the 90s. Until then, residents are advised to check on neighbors, avoid strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours, and never leave children or pets in parked cars.

Heat advisories could be extended if conditions fail to ease by early next week.
