Wichita, KS – Severe storms are expected to develop across central Kansas this evening, bringing large hail, damaging winds, and the potential for a few tornadoes. The storms will begin forming after 6 PM tonight, with the heaviest impacts hitting areas like Wichita, Hutchinson, and Emporia.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, the storms are likely to intensify through the evening and into the overnight hours, lasting until early Wednesday morning. Winds could reach up to 70 mph, and hail may grow to the size of tennis balls in the strongest storms. Heavy rainfall is also possible, leading to localized flooding.

Residents in central and southeast Kansas, including those in areas such as Topeka and Coffeyville, should prepare for potentially severe weather. The storms are expected to move from west to east, impacting areas between 6 PM and 5 AM.

The National Weather Service advises residents to monitor the latest weather updates and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, including through smartphones and weather radios.
