Tampa Bay, FL – Heavy rain and freezing conditions are set to sweep across the Tampa Bay area starting Tuesday night. Commuters and residents should prepare for slick roads and significant rainfall along key routes, including I-275.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread rain is expected to intensify overnight and continue through Wednesday morning. Some northern areas of Florida could experience freezing rain, ice pellets, or even snow. Winds are forecast to reach up to 22 mph, with temperatures falling as low as 40 degrees. Drivers should remain cautious and allow extra travel time on wet roads.

Beyond Wednesday morning, conditions will gradually improve, though some showers may linger. Highs are expected to reach 52 degrees on Wednesday, with gusty winds making it feel even cooler. By Thursday, the region will see drier weather, but temperatures will remain cool, with a low of 40 degrees.

Coastal residents should also heed a high rip current risk through Tuesday. Beaches from Hillsborough to Sarasota counties are affected. Swimmers are advised to avoid entering the water and follow lifeguard recommendations.

Looking ahead, sunny skies are forecast for Friday and Saturday, with highs near 60 degrees. However, residents should plan for chilly nights, with lows dipping into the mid-30s.
