Bloomington, IN – The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky, effective until 4:00 AM EDT Tuesday. The affected areas include major cities such as Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Louisville, as well as smaller towns like Danville and Terre Haute.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a potential for a couple of tornadoes, isolated hail up to the size of ping pong balls, and scattered wind gusts reaching up to 70 mph. The severe weather conditions pose significant risks to the safety of nearly 6.5 million residents, 2,058 schools, and 158 hospitals within the watch area.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property. This includes securing outdoor objects, staying indoors during the storm, and having an emergency plan in place.
