Camdenton, MO – Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued across Central Missouri this evening, as powerful storms threaten the region with damaging winds, large hail, and potential tornadoes.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Springfield reported that a severe thunderstorm near Camdenton is moving northeast at 25 mph. The storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail. Warnings remain in effect for Miller and Camden counties until 5 p.m., impacting areas such as Lake of the Ozarks, Ha Ha Tonka State Park, and Osage Beach.
According to the NWS, a tornado is possible as conditions remain favorable for rapid storm intensification. Residents are urged to move to safe shelter immediately, preferably an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy structure.
Similar severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for Benton, Morgan, Cole, and Moniteau counties, where storms are producing wind damage and hail up to nickel size. Communities at risk include Versailles, Russellville, and Eugene. Storms in these areas are advancing northeast at speeds between 25 and 40 mph.
