Minneapolis, MN – A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Minneapolis and surrounding areas, including the MN State Fairgrounds, this Thursday afternoon. The National Weather Service (NWS) alerted residents and visitors at 3:45 PM, urging them to take immediate precautions as storms approach.
According to the NWS, the storms could bring winds up to 60 mph and pea-sized hail. The warning covers the Twin Cities metro, extending west to Waconia and south to Shakopee. The warning remains in effect until 4:30 PM CDT.
Fairgoers and residents in the affected area are advised to seek shelter indoors. The NWS emphasized the potential impact, with nearly 2 million people, 674 schools, and 21 hospitals within the warning zone.
