Wichita, KS – Severe storms are forecasted for this evening across north-central and central Kansas, with Wichita expected to experience significant weather events. Large hail and damaging winds are predicted, particularly around Wilson and Kanopolis Lakes.
According to the US National Weather Service Wichita Kansas, thunderstorms will move into the region in the early evening but weaken as they head into South Central Kansas. Areas of Central Kansas, including Wichita, are at risk for severe weather. The main threats include 60-70 mph winds and half-dollar-sized hail.
In addition to the storm risks, Wichita is currently experiencing extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 102°F. The forecast for the upcoming days remains scorching, with highs consistently in the upper 90s and low 100s. Thursday will see a high of 100°F, Friday 97°F, and Saturday slightly cooler at 95°F with some cloud cover. Sunday through Tuesday will continue with high temperatures, reaching 97°F to 100°F.
