Serious Crash on US 281 in Rolette County Injures Five, Investigation Ongoing

Rolette County, ND – A Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound on US Highway 281 left the roadway, causing a serious accident. The driver overcorrected, sending the vehicle across both lanes before it entered the north ditch. The Silverado rolled and came to rest facing south on its wheels. All occupants, aged 27, 23, 22, 18, and 1, were not wearing seat belts. Several passengers were ejected and suffered serious injuries.

First responders transported all occupants to Quentin M. Burdick Hospital in Belcourt. Due to the severity of their injuries, multiple passengers were later airlifted to Trinity Hospital in Minot and Sanford Hospital in Fargo.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash. The reason why the vehicle left the roadway remains unknown. Authorities urge drivers to wear seat belts to prevent similar tragedies.
