Richmond, IN – An Indiana woman was found deceased Tuesday in a creek near the site of a fatal car crash on New Paris Pike.
Lorena Scott, 59, went missing after her vehicle veered off the road late last week. Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputies and multiple agencies launched an intensive search after initial efforts near the crash site proved unsuccessful.
According to Wayne County officials, the expanded operation included drones from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Richmond Fire Department, as well as interviews with Scott’s family and reviews of security footage. Tragically, Scott was discovered about a quarter-mile from the crash site early Friday.
Authorities have not determined the cause of death but noted no immediate signs of foul play. Investigators are continuing to review evidence.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office thanked local agencies and community members for their assistance and extended condolences to Scott’s family. “We are deeply saddened by this outcome and grateful for everyone’s efforts,” a statement read.
