Seabrook, NH Fatal Crash Closes I-95 After Pedestrian Struck by Tractor-Trailer

Investigators are seeking witnesses after the fatal crash temporarily closed northbound Interstate 95.

Seabrook, NH – A pedestrian was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in Seabrook, prompting a temporary closure of the highway’s northbound lanes, according to New Hampshire State Police.

According to New Hampshire State Police, troopers assigned to Troop A responded to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer at approximately 6:58 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, on Interstate 95.

Investigators said that, for reasons still under investigation, the pedestrian was in a travel lane when they were struck by a 2014 Volvo tractor-trailer. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the pedestrian’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was identified as Pablo Velez, 52, of East Hartford, Connecticut. According to state police, Velez remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation.

The crash closed all northbound lanes of Interstate 95 for approximately two hours while investigators processed the scene. The highway fully reopened at approximately 10:15 a.m.

Additional assistance was provided by troopers from Troop G, along with members of the Seabrook Police Department, Seabrook Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
