Scioto County, Ohio – Threats toward Northwest High School prompted a swift response and arrest Friday morning.

According to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a report at approximately 7:47 a.m. April 24 from Northwest High School regarding threats allegedly made by a student.

Deputies responded immediately with assistance from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. School officials had already detained the suspect in an administrative office before law enforcement arrived.

Investigators said the incident began on a school bus, where the suspect was reportedly discussing a song referencing school violence. During that conversation, the suspect allegedly stated she wanted to bring a bomb to the school and “get rid of the school and the people in it.”

Two students who overheard the remarks alerted the bus driver, who then notified school officials. Assistant Principal Camron Hoover escorted the suspect to the office, where staff conducted a search of her belongings for weapons or explosives. No weapons were reported.

Authorities said the suspect was later advised of her Miranda rights and admitted to making the statements, providing a written confession.

Star Jackson, 18, of Lucasville, was arrested and charged with inducing panic, a first-degree misdemeanor, and making terroristic threats, a third-degree felony. She is being held at the Scioto County Jail on an $11,000 bond.

Jackson is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, April 27, 2026. The case will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office for possible grand jury review.

The incident underscores ongoing concerns about school safety, particularly for students and staff during morning commutes.
