Frackville, PA – Pennsylvania State Police are renewing efforts to solve a decades-old cold case involving an unidentified young woman found in Schuylkill County, offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to a break in the case.
According to Pennsylvania State Police Troop L in Frackville, the victim was discovered on April 8, 1986, in a wooded area near Interstate 81 South in Kline Township. Investigators believe the woman had been deceased for several days prior to being found.
Authorities say the victim is described as a Black female, estimated to be between 17 and 23 years old, standing approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 108 pounds. She had black hair, brown eyes, and a small scar on her right cheek. Police noted she was found nude but was wearing a distinctive silver-colored friendship ring with a hexagon-shaped edge and Florentine finish.
To assist in identification, officials have released a facial reconstruction created by a forensic artist through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, along with a digital rendering of the ring.
Investigators are urging anyone who may recognize the reconstruction or have information about the case to come forward. Tips can be submitted to PSP Frackville at 570-874-5300, through PSP Tips at 1-800-472-8477, or online.
Officials emphasize that all tips are confidential and could be eligible for a cash reward. The case remains unsolved nearly four decades later.
