Sauk Village, IL – Firefighters from Sauk Village and several neighboring departments were dispatched early Monday morning after smoke was reported inside a commercial building.
According to the Sauk Village Fire Department, crews responded around 6:00 a.m. to a fire alarm at a commercial/industrial structure, joined by departments from Ford Heights, Crete, and Dyer. Firefighters found smoke coming from the second floor and immediately requested additional help through CalComm, the regional dispatch center.
Fire personnel conducted an extensive investigation, deploying a ladder truck to access the roof and assess the situation from above. After a detailed search, the smoke source was determined to be an HVAC unit malfunction located inside the building’s second-floor interior.
No fire was found, and all responding units were released after confirming the building was safe. Officials praised the quick response and coordination among crews from Ford Heights, Crete, Dyer, and Steger Fire Departments who assisted in the cold and windy conditions.
“The partnership and professionalism of all mutual aid companies were truly appreciated,” Sauk Village Fire Department said in a statement.
