Memphis, TN – An Excessive Heat Warning and Heat Advisory will take effect at 11 a.m. today for Memphis and surrounding areas, with heat index values expected to range from 105 to 112 degrees. The warning, issued by the National Weather Service, highlights the potential health risks from prolonged exposure to extreme heat.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will remain in place until 8 p.m. today. In addition to the heat warning, there is a marginal risk for severe storms north of I-40. These storms are expected between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., with damaging winds as the primary concern.
Forecasters advise residents to stay indoors, avoid strenuous activities during peak heat hours, and drink plenty of water. Short-lived and isolated intense storms could develop later in the evening, bringing possible threats such as high winds and hail.
The extended forecast shows Memphis experiencing continued high temperatures throughout the week. Sunday is expected to reach a high of 93 degrees, while Monday will be slightly cooler at 89 degrees. However, temperatures will climb again, with highs reaching 96 degrees on Tuesday and 97 degrees on Wednesday.
