Wilmington, Ill. – A school transportation provider plans to lay off 55 workers at its Wilmington facility, affecting local employment.

According to a WARN notice filing, Illinois Central School Bus will eliminate 55 positions at its location at 400 Day Lane. The layoffs are scheduled to take effect on Friday, May 29, 2026.

The notice, required under federal law for larger workforce reductions, provides advance warning to employees and local officials about significant job losses. The reason for the layoffs was not specified in the filing.
