Hanford, CA – Drivers in California’s San Joaquin Valley face hazardous conditions today as dense fog continues to impact visibility. A National Weather Service (NWS) advisory warns of reduced visibility to a quarter mile or less in many areas, including Highways 99 and 198.

According to the NWS, the dense fog advisory remains in effect until noon Sunday, affecting counties from Merced to Kern. Commuters are urged to drive cautiously, use headlights, and maintain safe following distances to avoid accidents. The fog has already led to slowed traffic and increased risks on major roadways.

Sunday’s temperatures will reach a high near 59°F, with fog gradually lifting by mid-morning. Overnight, dense fog will return, keeping visibility low into early Monday. Monday’s forecast shows patchy fog before 10 a.m., followed by mostly sunny skies and a high of 60°F.

Looking ahead, Tuesday will be clear with highs around 60°F, but nighttime temperatures will dip to the upper 30s. By Wednesday, partly sunny skies will prevail, with highs reaching 57°F.

For travelers, the NWS emphasizes the importance of planning ahead, especially during morning hours when fog is most intense. Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather changes and check road conditions before heading out.
