Jackson, MS – A rainy Sunday in Jackson is set to bring steady showers, with possible isolated thunderstorms, impacting much of the region. Local residents are advised to drive cautiously, particularly on major routes like I-55, as roads may become slick through the evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, showers are likely to intensify after 11 a.m., with southeast winds of up to 10 mph. Highs are expected to reach the mid-60s today, with rainfall totals approaching half an inch in some areas. Tonight, rain continues with a 100% chance of precipitation and lows dropping to 58 degrees.

Looking ahead, Monday will see a 50% chance of showers, primarily before 7 a.m., but conditions should begin clearing by the afternoon. Highs will rise to the low 70s, with calmer weather expected overnight as temperatures dip to 61. By Tuesday, a slight chance of early rain transitions into partly cloudy skies and highs near 69.

Sunshine makes a full return by Wednesday, with temperatures reaching 53 degrees under clear skies. Nights will remain cold, with lows in the 30s midweek.

As wet weather dominates the start of the week, officials urge drivers to slow down and allow extra time during commutes, especially during peak traffic hours. Those traveling on I-20 and I-55 should watch for ponding water and reduced visibility.

Stay tuned for updates, and keep umbrellas handy as rain dominates the forecast until Tuesday.
