San Francisco, CA – A widespread frost advisory remains in effect for multiple regions across California as temperatures are expected to drop as low as 28°F in some areas overnight. The advisory is set to last until 9 a.m. PST Friday, affecting parts of the Bay Area, Central Coast, and Northern California.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory impacts the North Bay Interior Valleys, Eastern Santa Clara Hills, East Bay Hills, Southern Salinas Valley, Santa Lucia Mountains, and areas of San Benito and Monterey counties. Additionally, Los Angeles and Oxnard offices have issued advisories for San Luis Obispo County Beaches, Santa Barbara County Central Coast Beaches, Ojai Valley, and Calabasas and Agoura Hills, where temperatures could drop as low as 30°F.
Coastal areas in Northern California, including Del Norte, Humboldt, and Mendocino counties, are also under a frost advisory, with temperatures expected to reach 33°F.
Residents are advised to take precautions to protect sensitive plants and outdoor vegetation. Those vulnerable to cold, including unhoused individuals, are urged to seek warm shelter, as prolonged exposure could lead to hypothermia.
Drivers should be aware of possible frost accumulation on roadways, particularly in shaded areas. The cold snap is expected to ease by mid-morning Friday as temperatures gradually rise with sunlight exposure.
