San Bernardino, CA – A significant winter storm is set to impact the San Bernardino and Riverside County mountains, with heavy snowfall and strong winds expected from Wednesday night through Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in San Diego, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Friday. Snowfall is forecast to reach 4 to 8 inches between 5,000 and 6,000 feet, 8 to 12 inches from 6,000 to 7,500 feet, and up to 16 inches above 7,500 feet in San Bernardino County. In Riverside County, snow accumulations will range from 2 to 4 inches at 4,500 feet, 4 to 8 inches from 5,500 to 6,500 feet, and up to 14 inches above 6,500 feet.

Winds will also be a major concern, with gusts up to 60 mph in the San Bernardino Mountains and 55 mph in the Riverside County Mountains. Snow levels are expected to drop from 8,000 feet down to 4,000 feet by late Wednesday night, fluctuating at that level through Friday.

Travelers should prepare for hazardous road conditions, with significant impacts on Thursday’s morning and evening commutes. Strong winds may cause tree damage, and visibility could be severely reduced due to blowing snow.

Officials advise motorists to carry emergency supplies, including a flashlight, food, and water. For the latest road conditions, travelers can call 511.

Safety Tips:
