San Antonio, Texas – Residents across Central Texas will experience dramatic temperature swings over the next several days, with warm springlike conditions this weekend followed by a sharp cooldown early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin–San Antonio, Thursday will stay sunny but breezy, with northerly winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph gradually easing through the afternoon. High temperatures will remain slightly below average, generally in the mid-60s to lower 70s across the region.

The weather pattern shifts quickly heading into the weekend as a warming trend develops. Cities including Austin, San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Georgetown could see temperatures climb into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees by Sunday, marking the warmest stretch of weather in recent weeks.

That warmth will be short-lived. A strong cold front expected late Sunday into early Monday will send temperatures sharply lower across Central Texas.

Highs on Monday may struggle to reach the upper 50s to lower 60s, nearly 30 degrees colder than Sunday’s readings in some locations. Overnight lows early next week could drop into the upper 30s to mid-40s, especially in Hill Country communities such as Fredericksburg, Kerrville, and Llano.

Forecasters say the region should remain dry despite the large temperature swings, with another warming trend possible by the middle of next week.
