San Angelo, Texas – A surge of tropical moisture is set to shake up West Central Texas this weekend, bringing scattered afternoon showers, thunderstorms, and a break from relentless heat as a weak tropical wave moves in on Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, the first impacts will be felt southeast of a Brownwood-to-Eden line, where rain chances jump to 20–40% through Sunday. Afternoon highs will still flirt with the triple digits north of I-20, but cloud cover will help hold temperatures in the low 90s across the Hill Country.

Cities including Abilene, San Angelo, Brownwood, and Eden should prepare for locally heavy downpours and brief gusty winds. While widespread flooding is not expected, isolated street flooding is possible, especially in low-lying spots. Drivers are urged to slow down on wet roads and keep devices charged in case of brief power interruptions.

Rain is expected to be scattered and not every area will see significant precipitation. This tropical wave is the first notable system of the summer to impact the region—providing much-needed relief for drought-stressed counties.

Showers and storms will linger into early next week, with additional weather advisories possible if the tropical system strengthens or slows.
