Salt Lake City, UT – A winter storm will bring snow and strong winds to Utah beginning Sunday night and continuing into early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, gusty southwesterly winds will develop Sunday, exceeding 40 mph in the West Desert. By Monday morning, widespread snowfall will begin in the mountains, with valley rain also expected.

Monday’s snowfall could impact morning and evening commutes, especially in higher elevations. Snow will continue Tuesday across the Wasatch Back and southwest Wyoming, tapering off overnight. Some lower valleys may see minor accumulations.

Wrap-around snow showers are possible Tuesday as the storm exits, with the potential for higher accumulations in some areas. Travelers should prepare for reduced visibility, slick roads, and changing conditions.

Officials advise residents to check forecasts regularly and allow extra travel time during peak snowfall periods.
