Salt Lake City, UT – Light snow is expected to impact Friday morning commutes across northern Utah, with slick roads likely. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that roads in Salt Lake County and surrounding areas may experience slushy and hazardous conditions.
According to the NWS, snow showers will begin overnight Thursday, gradually transitioning into rain by midday Friday. Snowfall will particularly affect higher elevations, such as the benches of Weber and Davis counties. Commuters should anticipate delays and exercise caution, especially in areas with reduced visibility.
Friday temperatures are forecast to reach a high of 42 degrees, with lows dropping to 29 degrees at night. Winds will remain calm, but rain and snow may persist through the weekend.
The extended forecast indicates a 50% chance of rain Saturday, increasing to 90% in the evening. Sunday could bring additional rain and snow. Drivers are advised to monitor updates and prepare for evolving road conditions.
Utah’s Department of Transportation recommends planning extra travel time and ensuring vehicles are winter-ready. For live updates, visit weather.gov/SaltLakeCity.
