Spokane, WA – A winter weather system will bring snow and rain to central Washington starting Friday, affecting travel and outdoor plans.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for areas west of Wenatchee, including Stevens Pass, the North Cascades, and the Okanogan Highlands. Light snow accumulations are expected throughout Friday, with higher elevations receiving 4 to 8 inches of snow. Lower elevations will see 1 to 4 inches. Snow will continue overnight Friday and into Saturday morning before transitioning to rain or dissipating in central areas.

According to the NWS, locations along the Columbia River will see little snow accumulation. Precipitation will taper off in central Washington as it shifts toward northeastern Washington and the Idaho Panhandle.

Snow levels will drop to 3,500 feet by Sunday afternoon, bringing light snow to some valleys. Drivers are advised to use caution, especially in mountain passes.

The advisory remains in effect from 4 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday.
