Roswell, NM – Man Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting Identified

Roswell, NM – A 30-year-old man was fatally shot during an officer-involved shooting Monday morning, prompting an investigation by the New Mexico State Police.

Authorities reported that Timothy Riley, of Roswell, was killed after allegedly firing at officers from a vehicle parked at a residence on 7 Oak Drive. The incident began around 7:30 a.m. when a child called 911, stating their father was armed with a gun.

Police said Riley entered the vehicle with two children in the back seat and fired multiple shots at officers. One officer returned fire, striking Riley. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The children were unharmed, and no officers were injured.

The New Mexico State Police are investigating and will submit findings to the district attorney.
