Pinedale, Wyo. – Residents across western Wyoming will wake to a hard chill Saturday morning, with a Freeze Warning in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. for the Upper Green River Basin and surrounding foothills. Temperatures are expected to dip as low as 30 degrees, with the coldest readings near Bondurant.
According to the National Weather Service in Riverton, the cold snap could kill crops, damage gardens, and harm unprotected outdoor plumbing. Areas including La Barge, Big Piney, Farson, and Pinedale are urged to cover sensitive vegetation and disconnect hoses before nightfall.
Farmers and gardeners should move potted plants indoors and use frost cloths or blankets to protect produce. Those with livestock are advised to check water supplies to prevent freezing. Campers and early-morning travelers should prepare for icy spots on rural roads and bridges.
The warning expires by mid-morning Saturday as sunshine returns, but chilly overnight lows are expected again Sunday in higher elevations. Officials say additional advisories are possible if temperatures continue to drop over the weekend.
