Rockford Man Critically Injured in Marengo Crash on Illinois Route 176

Marengo, IL – A Rockford man suffered critical injuries in a single-vehicle crash Saturday on Illinois Route 176 near Millstream Road.

Emergency crews responded to the crash at 7:23 a.m. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts, and Union Fire Protection District arrived to find a heavily damaged 2019 Ford Mustang.

According to the sheriff’s office, the Mustang traveled westbound on Illinois Route 176 before veering into the eastbound lane. The vehicle then exited the roadway to the south, striking several trees.

The 32-year-old driver was transported to Javon Bea Hospital-Riverside in Rockford. He remains in critical condition. Officials confirmed airbags deployed, and the driver wore a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Investigators do not believe alcohol contributed to the incident.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit continues to investigate. Authorities have not released further details.
