Providence, RI – A soggy stretch of weather is expected across Rhode Island through the end of the workweek before sunshine and warmer temperatures return for the weekend and early next week.
According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will stay mostly cloudy with only a slight chance of isolated showers during the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach near 64 degrees, though gusty winds could approach 28 mph later in the day.
The wettest weather arrives Thursday as widespread showers and possible thunderstorms move into the Providence area. Forecasters say rain chances increase sharply during the morning and afternoon hours, with patchy fog potentially affecting visibility during the commute. Some thunderstorms may produce heavier rainfall totals Thursday afternoon and evening.
Rain chances remain elevated Thursday night into Friday, with additional showers expected before conditions gradually improve later Friday evening. Temperatures will cool noticeably Friday, with highs struggling to reach 58 degrees.
A major turnaround is expected for the weekend. Saturday will bring sunny skies and highs near 76 degrees, creating favorable conditions for outdoor events and travel across southern New England.
The warming trend continues Sunday and into early next week. High temperatures are expected to climb into the lower 80s Sunday through Tuesday with mostly sunny skies dominating the extended forecast.
