Albuquerque, NM — New Mexico is set to experience a stretch of extreme heat this week, with temperatures reaching near-record levels across much of the state. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued warnings for several regions as temperatures are expected to soar into the upper 90s and low 100s through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday through Wednesday will see the most intense heat, with Albuquerque expected to reach 98°F on Tuesday and 97°F on Wednesday. Santa Fe and Farmington will also experience highs in the mid-90s, while Roswell could see temperatures climb to a scorching 106°F on Tuesday.

The heatwave is expected to bring moderate to major heat impacts, particularly for those without effective cooling and hydration. Residents are advised to stay indoors during peak heat hours, remain hydrated, and take frequent breaks if outdoors.

Precipitation chances increase later in the week, offering some relief by Thursday and Friday as temperatures begin to trend cooler. However, heat risks will remain high until then, with little overnight relief as temperatures are forecasted to stay above average. The highest risk areas include Roswell, Tucumcari, and the eastern plains, where temperatures could remain above 100°F until mid-week.
