Raleigh Sets Snowfall Record as February 2025 Brings Wild Weather to North Carolina

Raleigh, NC – February 2025 brought unusual weather to central North Carolina, featuring record-breaking snowfall, above-normal temperatures, and strong wind gusts.

Raleigh set a daily snowfall record on February 19, receiving 2.3 inches. Despite the snow, average temperatures stayed at least 2°F above normal, marking only the third time this has happened in February.

Wind gusts also created hazardous conditions. Raleigh saw peak gusts of 58 mph, while Fayetteville recorded 61 mph. Greensboro received 4.08 inches of precipitation, the most among the three cities.

According to the National Weather Service, Greensboro, Raleigh, and Fayetteville all had higher-than-normal temperatures. Raleigh’s warmest day reached 80°F, and Fayetteville peaked at 81°F. The coldest recorded temperature was 18°F in Greensboro.

Experts say fluctuating temperatures and extreme weather patterns may continue in the coming years. Residents should prepare for sudden weather shifts.
