Raleigh, North Carolina – Wet roads and reduced visibility will continue through the morning hours, with patchy rain tapering off by midday and gusty winds lingering into the afternoon across central North Carolina.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, rain will gradually end from northwest to southeast, with most areas—including Greensboro and Durham—drying out by late morning, while Fayetteville and Goldsboro may hold onto light showers until around noon. Rain chances drop sharply after 1 p.m., ending the threat of additional accumulation.

Despite improving conditions, northeast winds will increase through the day, with gusts reaching 20 to 25 mph. These winds could impact travel on major corridors such as I-40, I-85, and US-1, especially for high-profile vehicles. Cloud cover will persist for much of the day, keeping temperatures cooler than average, with highs ranging from 62 to 74 degrees.

Cities including Raleigh, Cary, Rocky Mount, and Henderson will remain mostly cloudy through the afternoon, with limited breaks of sun developing late. While flooding is not expected, drivers should remain cautious during the morning commute due to lingering slick spots.

Conditions will continue to improve this evening as skies slowly clear and winds ease overnight. Additional updates will be issued if rain lingers longer than expected in southeastern areas.
