Paducah, KY – A welcome break from the recent humidity is settling into the Quad State as a cold front pushes south, but the quieter weather won’t last long.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, less humid conditions are expected through the next couple of days, with high pressure building over the region through Thursday. Afternoon highs will generally range from the mid-80s to lower 90s, while overnight lows fall into the low to upper 60s.
Wednesday is expected to be mostly dry with highs between 84 and 92 degrees, followed by another pleasant day Thursday with temperatures ranging from 85 to 90 degrees.
Rain chances begin returning on Friday, when isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop. The unsettled pattern continues into the weekend, with scattered showers and thunderstorms forecast for both Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures will trend slightly cooler over the weekend, generally ranging from the upper 70s to mid-80s.
The National Weather Service says the greatest potential for severe weather currently appears to remain south of the Quad State, although residents should continue monitoring updated forecasts as the weekend approaches.
While widespread severe weather is not anticipated locally at this time, any thunderstorm can produce lightning, brief heavy rainfall, and gusty winds.
Residents planning outdoor activities later this week or over the weekend should keep an eye on the forecast for changing conditions and be prepared to adjust plans if thunderstorms develop.
