Quad Cities, Iowa/Illinois – Dangerously cold conditions continue across the Quad Cities region Monday, with wind chill values remaining well below zero through the morning and into the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect area-wide until noon Monday, as wind chills ranging from the upper teens below zero to more than 25 degrees below zero persist. Forecasters say wind chills will stay in the negative range even after midday, prolonging the risk of cold-related injuries.

During the coldest period early Monday morning, wind chill readings dropped to around 20 to 25 degrees below zero in cities including Davenport, Rock Island, Moline, and Bettendorf. At these levels, frostbite can occur in as little as 10 to 30 minutes on exposed skin.

Actual air temperatures remain well below freezing, and light winds are enough to maintain the dangerous wind chill values. The National Weather Service urges residents to dress in multiple layers, fully cover exposed skin, and limit time outdoors whenever possible.

The bitter cold also raises concerns for frozen pipes, increased strain on heating systems, and risks to pets and livestock. Residents are advised to bring pets indoors and ensure access to adequate heat.

While temperatures are expected to slowly moderate later this week, forecasters warn that cold mornings and below-normal temperatures will continue, keeping cold-weather precautions necessary across eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
