Putnam County, IN – A Putnam County Sheriff’s deputy narrowly avoided serious injury during a storm while assisting at a traffic accident on US 40. The deputy, identified as Deputy Query, was responding to a car that had collided with a tree when another tree fell onto his vehicle, smashing the cruiser.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred during a period of severe weather. Despite the damage to the vehicle, no injuries were reported. The department expressed relief, stating, “Blessed beyond belief that it’s only a vehicle.”
Emergency services were overwhelmed, addressing multiple fallen trees and road hazards across the area. Fire services are working to clear roads while urging residents to stay home for safety.
