Pueblo, CO – A cold and foggy start is creating slick road conditions across southern Colorado this morning as refreezing slush and dense fog reduce visibility, according to the US National Weather Service in Pueblo.
A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect through 8 a.m. Thursday for El Paso County, including Colorado Springs, where overnight moisture has frozen on bridges and secondary roads. Drivers are urged to slow down and use low beams during the morning commute.
Once fog lifts later this morning, skies will clear and temperatures will reach the upper 30s to low 40s across the plains, with continued dry weather through tonight. Cooler-than-normal temperatures will persist into next week, with lows dipping into the teens and 20s.
Meanwhile, forecasters say a new system arriving Friday will bring steady snow to the central mountains, especially near Leadville, Salida, and Buena Vista, where 1 to 4 inches of accumulation is likely. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for parts of the Sawatch Range from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning.
Outside the mountains, most of southern Colorado will remain dry but cold through the weekend, with highs in the 30s and 40s and lows in the 20s.
