Colorado’s dry air is already biting this morning, and the wind will only make it worse. Gusts are building across Pueblo and along the I-25 corridor, setting the stage for dangerous fire weather by late morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Fire Weather Zones 221, 222, 227, 228, 229, and 230. Northwest winds will increase to 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Relative humidity could drop as low as 9 percent. Fires can spark and spread quickly under these conditions.
High temperatures climb to near 68 degrees under sunny skies. That warmth combined with dry fuels elevates wildfire risk across Pueblo County, Fremont County, and Teller County. Avoid outdoor burning. Secure trailer chains and avoid parking on dry grass.
Tonight cools to the mid-30s with lighter winds. Saturday stays mostly sunny near 68 degrees, and Sunday remains mild in the mid-60s. Elevated fire weather may linger this weekend east of the mountains.
Changes arrive early next week. Monday turns mostly cloudy near 60 degrees. By Tuesday and Wednesday, a developing system brings increasing chances for rain in the lower elevations and accumulating snow mainly in the mountains. Snow levels look high at first, keeping I-25 wet rather than icy, but colder air could lower snow levels midweek.
The 6–10 day outlook favors near to slightly above normal temperatures, signaling a gradual transition toward March spring warmth after this brief late winter fire threat.
Five Day Outlook for Pueblo, Colorado:
