Pueblo, CO – Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected across much of southern Colorado today, bringing threats of hail, damaging winds, tornadoes, and heavy rain along the I-25 corridor and nearby high country.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, storms will form over the high country by late morning and intensify as they move east across the mountain valleys into the I-25 corridor this afternoon and evening. Forecasters warn that 1-inch hail, gusts up to 60 mph, and torrential rainfall are all possible. Tornadoes may also develop, particularly across the southern mountains and San Luis Valley.

Flooding remains a serious concern for the San Juans and Rio Grande Valley, where more than 8 inches of rain have already fallen since the weekend. A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through midnight, with additional water impacts to roads and infrastructure expected.

Residents are urged to monitor weather alerts, avoid flooded roadways, and have multiple ways to receive warnings.
