Pueblo, Colorado — Confidence is increasing that snow will impact Pueblo and much of southern Colorado from Friday into Saturday, with potential travel disruptions during multiple rounds of snowfall.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, widespread light to moderate snow is expected across the region Friday through Saturday. Forecast data shows a high likelihood of at least 1 inch of snow across Pueblo, with probabilities around 80 percent. Heavier snowfall totals exceeding 6 inches are expected to remain mainly confined to the mountains.

Forecasters say the snow will be dry and fluffy, which can accumulate quickly on roadways despite lighter liquid amounts. Snow is expected to fall in several rounds before tapering off from north to south late Saturday night.

While snowfall rates are not expected to be extreme across lower elevations, repeated snow showers could lead to slick roads and periods of reduced visibility. Travel impacts are possible both Friday and Saturday, especially during heavier bursts.

Major routes including Interstate 25, U.S. Highway 50, and surrounding state highways may experience snow-covered conditions at times. Bridges, overpasses, and elevated roadways are expected to become slick quickly, particularly during overnight and early morning hours.

The National Weather Service cautions that confidence in heavier snow totals across the plains remains low, but even light to moderate snowfall could cause delays given cold temperatures and untreated surfaces. Motorists are urged to monitor forecasts closely as details on timing and amounts continue to be refined.

Drivers are advised to slow down, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for changing conditions throughout the day Friday and into Saturday. Those traveling into higher elevations should be prepared for more significant snowfall and winter driving conditions.

For commuters, students, and weekend travelers, the most likely impact windows are Friday morning through Friday evening and again Saturday, when multiple rounds of snow could affect travel around Pueblo and across southern Colorado.
